How good does my English need to be?
Good enough to speak, listen, read and write at a level we must confirm before you start.
The requirement sits with the training, not the licence application. The SIA sets an English language prerequisite in its requirements for awarding organisations and training centres, and we record how it was confirmed. Levels commonly accepted as evidence include a B1 qualification from the Home Office list, ESOL at level 1 on the Ofqual register, or functional skills level 1 in English. Ask us which evidence we accept before you book.
