Ghana: Police Clearance Certificate or Criminal Check Report
You need this if you have lived in Ghana for six continuous months or more in the last ten years.
Who can apply
Residents, non residents and non citizens. Refugees in Ghana can apply with UNHCR identification. A nominated friend or relative can act for you. Employers cannot apply.
Where
In Ghana, at Police Service headquarters in Accra or a local police station. From the UK, through the Ghana High Commission.
What to supply
- Completed application form
- Full set of fingerprints
- Three recent passport sized photographs, signed on the back
- Certified copy of your passport
Translation
Issued in English, so no translation is normally needed.
Watch out
The certificate is released to the applicant, not to a representative, and overseas fees are considerably higher than local ones.
