Why this one

Anyone whose door supervisor licence is coming up for renewal. The SIA will not renew without the refresher qualification.

What it lets you work

What you cover

  1. Day 1

    Emergency first aid at work

The one day first aid qualification, assessed on the day, so your certificate is current when you renew.

  2. Day 2

    Door supervisor refresher

What has changed in the law and in the role since you last trained, and a practical refresh of physical intervention skills.

Worth knowing first

When can I renew?

You can apply up to four months before your licence expires, while it still has more than 120 days left to run.

›More on this
The SIA runs the same checks on a renewal as on a new application, including identity, so you may be asked to visit a Post Office again. Renewals cost the same as a first application.

SIA: Renew your SIA licence (GOV.UK)

We checked this on 23 September 2026.

Do I need a first aid certificate before the door supervisor course?

Yes. You need a first aid qualification with at least 12 months left to run before you can take the training.

›More on this
The SIA requires it before door supervisor training and before the refresher. Emergency First Aid at Work, or an equivalent, is accepted, and our one day course provides it. You show us the certificate when you register, not the SIA.
